Screenwriting
at Slamdance, 2001, Guest Lecturer at San Diego State University
Graduate Film Program, 2001 and 2002, visiting festival representative
(for AFI) at Hot Docs in Toronto, 2000, Flickerfest 1998 in Sydney,
Australia, speaker at the UCLA Professional Producers Workshop,
the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and Cerritos College School
of Film and Television.
For
the past two years, Mr. Cole has served full time as an Executive
Consultant to the American Film Institute where he is in charge
of business planning and design implementation for "The AFI
Silver, Theatres and Cultural Center." This exciting new
complex in Silver Spring, Maryland, just six miles from the White
House, will be the flagship for AFI's expanding film exhibition
and education programs nationwide. In addition to the many business
and management functions he performs, David is overseeing the
production of a documentary on "The Making of the AFI Silver,"
as well as planning a slate of films and video series to be produced
by AFI at the new complex over the next several years.
When
his work at AFI is completed David hopes to return to writing
and producing on a grand scale.

Writer-Producer
David A. Cole holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Film and Television
Production from Chapman University and a bachelor's degree in Theater
Arts from the University of California at Santa Cruz. Prior to becoming
a filmmaker, David spent twenty years as a professional business
consultant in Los Angeles, California, specializing in complex real
estate development transactions and the cleanup of oil fields. During
those years, he studied film and wrote feature scripts in his spare
time. From the intermarriage of his skills in commerce with his
love of writing and film, a producer's career was born.
In 1994, David incorporated Visionary Dreamscapes Entertainment
("Visdream"), an independent production company. He is
currently the president and CEO of Visdream where he has developed
and produced several short films and documentaries, and a feature
length romantic comedy entitled ,Just Add Love. The film stars Wendie
Malick (Just Shoot Me, Dream On, The American President) and Richard
Eden (Santa Barbara, Robocop, the Series). Visdream's current projects
include, Mary's Run, a feature based on the true story of three
of the most powerful women in U.S. history; A Star Away, which is
a science fiction action adventure currently under consideration
for production in Queensland, Australia, and The Mumble Bees, an
animated tale of life in the garden.
David
lectures on Screenwriting, Business and Legal Affairs, Production
Management and Independent Feature Film Development at universities
and film festivals around the world. In addition to writing his
own works, David enjoys helping others as a "script doctor"
and consultant. As a producer, he insists on working closely with
the original writers whenever possible.
David has served on film juries ranging from the 20th International
Festival du Film Independent, in Brussels, Belgium, to the Method
Fest in Pasadena and Sidewalk Fest in Birmingham, Alabama among
